Have you ever hated the work you have always wanted?

You are always stressed and your workload seems like an infinite loop of insanity. You procrastinate but you hate yourself for it.

Did that ring a bell? If you answered yes to most of these questions, you are experiencing a burnout 🤯.

Did you say burnout?

Burnout is a state of emotional and physical exhaustion. Early symptoms include low productivity and deep isolation. Unlike mainstream belief, there are three types of burnout🤓. We unfortunately got too familiar with the overload burnout but the good news is we figured out how to avoid it.

Design a healthy morning routine

Everyday is a battle.

If you don’t come prepared, you will lose the battle. That’s why it’s important to start your day right. Starting your day is not about getting to work as fast as possible but rather to take care of yourself.

Benjamin P. Hardy enlisted 8 things every person should do every single morning:

  1. Wake up
  2. Get in the zone
  3. Get moving
  4. Put the right food in your body
  5. Get ready
  6. Get inspired
  7. Get perspective
  8. Do something to move yourself forward.

Building habits is hard and time consuming. Yet, it gets easier with time.

A positive work environment

Positive work culture are more productive, according to William Craig founder and president of WebpageFX. And we hope you are as lucky as we are here at Veamly where culture is our strongest driver. That’s the only way we can thrive.

But even if it isn’t the case, you can still bring lots of positivity in your work environment:

  • Decorate your working area with things you love or are passionate about 😍
  • Have the ultimate playlist to keep you pumped and effective. We like this one 🙂
  • Keep things neat as it will help you focus better (this applies to your desk, computer and anything you use for work)

Bootstrap your to-do list

Doing great work is not about quantity. It’s about quality. It’s about impact. You don’t have to cross every item your to-do list to do great work.

If you find you to-do list piling up, chances are you are adding too many tasks. It’s time to bootstrap it. In a previous blog, we explained a hack by Warren Buffett to trim down your to-do list.

Have short breaks throughout the day

No matter how hard worker you are and even if you claim that you can go 3 hours straight with ultimate focus, research shows that your brain needs a 5 minute break every 30 minutes of total focus. And to maintain focus, better stay away from distractions. For instance, any digital device or social media should be out of reach.

Know when to unplug

It’s totally understandable that you love your work but if you push too hard you will crumble. You should be able to stay away from work for a while. Stay away from your smartphone and all your notifications. It’s your “me time”.

The rework podcast released an episode on sabbatical and the importance of taking a vacation in order to recharge and get back energized.

Have your 8 hours of sleep

Just like food and water, sleeping is essential for the human body. Sleep deprivation can cause a lot of problems in the long run.

Alice G. Walton, PhD in Biopsychology and Behavioral Neuroscience, outlines the negative side effects of sleep deprivation on the brain. This may range from memory loss to depression.

The national sleep foundation published a piece in which they explained how sleep deprivation affects your heart.

People who don’t sleep enough are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease and coronary heart disease — regardless of age, weight, smoking and exercise habits. Getting enough good quality sleep is important if you want to lower you risk of these conditions.

Burnouts are red flags and every productive person worst enemy. This is one of our core motivation while building Veamly. If you want to feel less overwhelmed and proactively productive, request a Veamly account 🎊.
